Paper pastedown on boards, cloth spine
Esslingen and Munich
by Meggendorfer, Lothar
Esslingen and Munich: J. F. Schreiber. Third edition. Paper pastedown on boards, cloth spine. Very Good Minus. Scarce Meggendorfer title (not to be confused with "Fur brave Kinder"), with the only copy located on OCLC FirstSearch (and not a much later printing) in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. N.d., circa 1890s. Oblong, 28 by 32 cm. Seven leaves. With six tranformations (a total of 12 illustrations effectively): Der Sonntagsreiter, Vor dem Affenhaus, Auf dem See, Die Landpartie, Die bosen Buben and Im Urwald. On facing versos are light humorous verses. All the transformations work, although they can be fussy and care is highly advisable in manipulating at least two of them. The tabs have been replaced, and there have been a few other paper repairs, as per the norm for Meggendorfer toy books, both because of their popular use and the brittleness of the paper stock.
