New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons. Very Good in Very Good dj. (c.1973). Bound galleys. Softcover. (printed wraps) [moderate wear, light dampstaining to top edge, diagonal crease at bottom corner of front cover; the dust jacket (which is scuffed along the folds and has a 1.5" ragged closed tear at the top of the front panel, and is also taped down at both ends) is a preliminary version of the final production, with the front-panel illustration and spine only (the flaps and the rear panel are blank); it's also about 3-1/2 inches shorter than the book (which measures about 12" x 5-1/4")]. Pre-publication version (bound galleys, with a few copy-editorial marks present in the text) of the first book-length biography of Jane Fonda, then (and still now, in some quarters) a controversial figure due to her anti-Vietnam War activism. It's interesting to note that when a new edition of the book appeared in 1982, the "Intimate Biography" subtitle was swapped out in favor of "Heroine for Our Times." (Her hairstyle had evolved, too.) . (Inventory #: 28742)
