by de Boor, Carl
(New York, 2001): Springer. First Edition. Octavo. First hardcover edition revised. 346(2) pp.When this book was first published in 1978, it immediately became the standard. This edition provides a systematic in-depth analysis of nonparametric regression with random design. It covers almost all known estimates. The emphasis is on distribution-free properties of the estimates. The new edition had corrected various errors and added more formal statements with proof. A major change has occurred in chapters IX-XI where the B-Sline theory is now developed directly from the recurrence relations without recourse to divided differences. Bound in yellow and white paper covered boards lettered in black. Spine lettering black, light bump to head. Near fine.
