New York: E.P. Dutton, 1947. First Edition. Octavo. 182 pages signed by the author. An abstract novel which uses abstractions to show how the children writes of their dreams in a psycho-analytic way accompanied with their waking fantasies. It is most completely enacted by a boy of seventeen, but in his relationship with others he reveals the persistence of this conflict in mature characters. The craving for freedom and the fear of being possessed. Bound in black cloth, spine lettering gilt, erasure mark to upper corner of front free endpaper, in unclipped dust jacket with a piece torn away along upper edge and chipping to corners, spine ends and front flap at fold. A very good copy.
