First edition of the author's first book, Andover issue, 2 volumes, thick 8vo; lexicon in double column; full contemporary sheep, red and black gilt-lettered spine labels; front cover of vol. II a bit warped; all else very good. A respected geographer and historian, Worcester (1784-1865) is best remembered for his Dictionary of the English Language which in its day rivaled that of Webster. This dictionary contains valuable geographical and statistical information on the United States and other parts of the world, presented alphabetically.
